The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), as part of its efforts to implement its 10-year Strategic Plan, is pleased to announce the 2025 call for scholarship applications to support pharmacists pursuing Membership and fellowship training at the Ghana College of Pharmacists (GCPharm) and the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP).

This scholarship program supports the Strategic Plan objective:

“Building the capacity of pharmacists through education and research to ensure appropriate career development and specialization to impact practice.”

The PSGH scholarship is designed to provide financial support (full or partial fees) to eligible pharmacists who have secured admission into the Membership and Fellowship Programmes at GCPharm and WAPCP, in any of the PSGH-prioritized specialty areas.

Pharmacists who are now applying to study at the GCPharm or WAPCP may also respond to this call.

Eligible Specialty Areas Include (but not limited to):

  • Clinical Pharmacy
  • Community Pharmacy Practice
  • Drug and Herbal Medicine Production
  • Drug and Herbal Medicine Analysis
  • Social and Public Health Pharmacy
  • Regulatory Pharmacy
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Academic Pharmacy

Eligibility Criteria [GHOSPA MEMBERS]

To qualify for the scholarship:

  1. Applicant must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in service with GHS/MOH
  2. Applicant must have the ability to secure study leave for the programme
  3. There must be availability of that specialty in applicant’s facility or else applicant must secure a letter from the RHD for possible transfer to a suitable facility to practice, after the training
  4. Applicant must be an active member, and in good standing, at the regional level of both PSGH and GHOSPA
  5. Applicant must select only specialties listed in PSGH’s selected specialty areas for study at the GCPharm or WAPCP
  6. There must be no ongoing disciplinary action against the applicant at the time of application
  7. Applicant should not be indebted to PSGH or GHOSPA or his/her facility
  8. The application must be routed through GHOSPA or must be endorsed by the GHOSPA Regional Coordinator and the National Chairman/General Secretary
  9. Applicant must be bonded to serve in GHS/MOH for the required number of years commensurate with the number of years of study

 

For ALL other applicants:

  • Applicant must have practiced for at least 5 years post-registration.
  • Be an active PSGH member at the Practice group, interest group, and regional level.
  • Not have any ongoing disciplinary actions.
  • Submit their application through their practice group, endorsed by their Regional Coordinator and National Chairman/General Secretary.
  • Be ready to enter a bond to serve the country with the required skills for the number of years equivalent to the duration of the training.
  • Priority will be given to applicants whose research interest align with the Society’s advocacy themes.
