Dr. (Pharm.) Rhoda Delali Agbenyo & Dr (Pharm). Abena Esia-Donkoh presenting the award to the PSGH Leadership

Accra, 28 October 2026 – The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) has received the SheRock Women Impact Award in recognition of its outstanding commitment to promoting opportunities for women, advancing workplace equity and championing inclusive practices that empower women to succeed and lead. The award was presented at the SheRock Women Conference 2026, held from 22–23 October 2026 at the ICGC New Wine Temple, East Legon, Accra, under the theme “RESTART: Equipping Women, Redefining Possibilities.” The conference brought together accomplished women, professionals and leaders for discussions on personal development, career advancement, entrepreneurship, leadership and women’s wellbeing.

PSGH’s commitment to supporting working mothers

A notable initiative underpinning PSGH’s commitment to inclusion is its AGM Childcare Lounge, introduced during the Society’s 2025 Annual General Meeting in Cape Coast. The initiative was proposed and spearheaded by Dr. (Pharm.) Rhoda Delali Agbenyo, with the full support of the AGM Planning Committee Chairperson and PSGH Central Regional Chairperson, Dr (Pharm). Abena Esia-Donkoh. The lounge provides a supportive environment for nursing mothers and parents attending the Society’s AGM, enabling them to participate in professional activities while their children receive appropriate care. Following its successful introduction in Cape Coast, the initiative was continued at the 2026 AGM in Accra, reinforcing PSGH’s commitment to making professional engagements more family-friendly and inclusive.

Showcasing PSGH’s wider impact

Dr. Agbenyo also participated in a panel discussion at the SheRock Women Conference, highlighting PSGH’s contributions to women’s empowerment, professional development and community health. She drew attention to several initiatives, including adolescent sexual and reproductive health programmes championed by the Lady Pharmacists Association of Ghana (LAPAG), maternal and reproductive health interventions being implemented in Northern Ghana, breast cancer awareness initiatives, and programmes supporting early career pharmacists.

These interventions demonstrate PSGH’s growing commitment to advancing women’s health, creating professional opportunities and addressing barriers to women’s participation and leadership. The recognition further affirms PSGH’s dedication to building a profession where women are supported to thrive, lead and contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery and national development.
