One of the leading pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution companies in the country, Unichem Ghana Group, has launched a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Accra to produce high-quality, affordable medicines for the Ghanaian market and the entire West African sub region.

The company has obtained trade agreements with its affiliate, LUEX United Kingdom, to produce the range of LUEX pharmaceutical products on its behalf in the country.

The facility, which is located in Spintex, one of the manufacturing enclaves in Accra, has been several years in the making and will help ramp up local production for UNICHEM to serve the nation.

The Chief Executive Officer of LUEX Healthcare, Sunil D. Mohan, said the establishment of the factory by Unichem in Ghana marked a significant milestone in LUEX Healthcare’s commitment and partnership in delivering quality products in Ghana and beyond.

The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, in a speech read on his behalf by Pharm. Dr. Joycelyn Naa Kokoi Azeez, Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health, said the opening of the facility complements the efforts of the government to provide quality healthcare services to Ghanaians.

The President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana also lauded Unichem for their commitment to producing medications locally in Ghana. He said the PSGH has always been a strong advocate for local manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, and so he was excited to grace the occasion of the outdooring of the manufacturing plant.
