The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has ushered in a new era of leadership with the swearing-in of its President and National Council members at a grand Presidential and Executive Investiture Dinner held on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The high-profile ceremony was graced by the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Julius Debrah, and Justice of the Supreme Court, His Lordship Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, underscoring the national significance of the occasion. Also present to grace the event was the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Pharm. Paul Owusu Donkor, PhD, AGI, alongside captains of industry, policymakers, and distinguished guests from across the public and private sectors.

At the ceremony, Pharm. Kofi Nsiah-Poku was formally sworn in as President of the Association of Ghana Industries. He will be supported by Mr. Mukesh V. Thakwani, Vice-President in charge of Large-Scale Industries, and Mr. Dela Gadzanku, Vice-President responsible for Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises (SMEs). Other members of the new national leadership include Mrs. Maureen Erekua Odoi as Treasurer, Mr. Emmanuel Gyimah and Madam Joyce Ababio as Executive Members, together with 35 National Council members representing various sectors of Ghana’s industrial landscape.
A distinguished industry leader
Pharm. Kofi Nsiah-Poku is the Managing Director of the Kina Group and Vice Chair of the National Development Planning Commission. A seasoned Consultant Pharmacist, he brings to the presidency extensive expertise in pharmaceutical production and food processing, coupled with decades of entrepreneurial and policy experience.

An alumnus of Opoku Ware School, where he served as Assistant School Prefect, he later pursued Pharmacy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). After graduating, he spent five years as a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Pharmacy, KNUST, before venturing into business to build and expand his retail pharmacy enterprise. He has also undertaken several Executive Development Programmes at GIMPA, covering Finance, Strategic Marketing, Administration, Human Resource Management, and Corporate Governance.
Pharm. Nsiah-Poku is the Founder and Chairman of several leading companies, including Kinapharma Ltd, one of Ghana’s top pharmaceutical manufacturing firms producing over 160 brands of medicines; Xpert Security Ltd, an electronic security solutions company; Healthilife Beverages Ltd, a major producer of juices, dairy-based drinks, and the MINUTEMAID brand for Coca-Cola Ghana; and Green Diamond Estates and Resorts Ltd, a luxury real estate development company.
He is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana and the West African College of Pharmacists, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), a former WHO adviser on pre-packed anti-malarials, and an R&D consultant on anti-malarial production for clinical studies in Africa.

Pharm. Nsiah-Poku’s contributions to industry, healthcare, and national development have earned him numerous accolades, including Marketing Man of the Year (2004), KNUST Alumnus of the Year (2005), PSGH Industrial Pharmacist of the Year (2006), EY Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year for West Africa (2015), and CEO of the Year – PSGH Pharma Excellence Award (2025). He has also received an Honorary Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, for his services to pharmaceutical education and manufacturing in Ghana.
With his swearing-in, expectations are high that Pharm. Kofi Nsiah-Poku’s tenure will further strengthen AGI’s advocacy for industrial growth, innovation, and private-sector-led national development.
