On Friday, April 11, 2025, the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) hosted its inaugural Pharma Excellence Awards at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. The event honored 23 individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to the pharmaceutical industry, encompassing areas such as professional practice, manufacturing, research, regulatory compliance, entrepreneurship, and patient care.

The ceremony was graced by key government officials, including Minister for Health, Mr. Kwabena Mintah-Akandoh, who commended the PSGH for its leadership and contributions to national development. He emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting local pharmaceutical manufacturing to reduce dependency on imports and enhance medicine security. ​

Dr. Samuel Kow Donkoh, President of PSGH, described the event as a milestone in recognizing the often-unseen efforts of pharmaceutical professionals. He reiterated the Society’s commitment to upholding ethical standards, promoting professional development, and advocating for policies that empower local pharmaceutical enterprises.

This landmark event not only celebrated excellence but also reinforced the collective resolve to advance healthcare delivery in Ghana.
