The announcement, made by the FIP Foundation in May 2026, recognizes seven outstanding early-career pharmacy professionals from across the globe who have demonstrated exceptional potential for leadership, professional engagement, and advancing pharmaceutical practice.
Pharm. Freeman Owusu Ansah was selected to represent the African region, joining a distinguished cohort of emerging pharmacy leaders from Nigeria, Brazil, Türkiye, Pakistan, India, and the Philippines. A global recognition of leadership potential
The FIP Foundation Early Career Leadership Development Scholarship is one of the federation’s flagship leadership programmes designed to identify and nurture future leaders of the pharmacy profession. The highly competitive scholarship seeks to support outstanding early-career pharmacists from low- and middle-income countries who have demonstrated excellence in practice, leadership, innovation, and professional service. Recipients are selected through a rigorous assessment process that evaluates academic and professional achievements, leadership potential, capacity to drive change within the profession, and commitment to professional engagement at national and international levels.
Beyond financial support for participation in the FIP World Congress, scholars undertake intensive leadership development training and gain opportunities to engage with leaders from across the global pharmacy community.
For PSGH, the selection of a Ghanaian pharmacist among the seven global awardees is a significant achievement that reflects the growing influence and contributions of Ghanaian pharmacists on the international stage.
