Accra, Ghana – February 17, 2025 – The newly appointed Acting Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Ghana, Pharm. Michael Kudebong, paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Pharm. Dr. Samuel Kow Donkoh, at the National Secretariat of the PSGH in Accra. The executive secretary and the deputy executive secretary of the PSGH were also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, the PSGH President congratulated the Acting Registrar on his appointment and expressed appreciation for his swift engagement with the PSGH. He noted that this early move demonstrates Pharm. Kudebong’s readiness to collaborate effectively for the advancement of the pharmacy profession in Ghana.

Call for unity and strengthened collaboration

Pharm. Kudebong emphasized the need for unity among all players in the pharmacy profession, stating that the Pharmacy Council is fully committed to collaborating with the PSGH and other stakeholders. He also stressed his expectation for the PSGH to maintain a strong and influential voice on matters relating to the pharmacy profession.

Key Issues Discussed

The meeting addressed key regulatory and practice issues, issues related to Pharmacy support staff, OTCMS, preceptorship, documentation for pharmacy services, admission quota system in pharmacy schools among others.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both the PSGH and the Pharmacy Council to uphold professional standards, enhance pharmacy practice, and strengthen regulatory frameworks. With the new Acting Registrar’s proactive approach and the PSGH’s continued advocacy, the future of pharmacy practice in Ghana looks promising.
