In September, the 2025 Annual Conference of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) will be held in Cape Coast, Central Region. This year’s Conference also marks the end of an event-filled tenure of the current administration, which means new officers will be elected to lead PSGH in the coming years.

In line with Article VI (1) of the PSGH Constitution, the Governing Board (GB) at a meeting held on 30th January 2025 has constituted the Elections Committee to oversee and ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process. The constitutional provision states:

SECTION VI – Election of Officers of the Society

  1. The Board may, not later than January preceding the National Conference, appoint a committee or institution as the Election Officer for the conduct of any election of the Society. The Election Officer shall be responsible for making rules of procedure governing the election in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the Society in force.

Composition of the 2025 PSGH Elections Committee

The Elections Committee is composed of experienced and seasoned senior pharmacists, complemented by young and dynamic professionals, ensuring a well-balanced team with gender inclusivity. The Committee is chaired by the immediate past President of PSGH, Pharm. Benjamin Kwame Botwe, and includes:

  4. Pharm. Andrew Ofori Annan
  5. Pharm. Karen Adae

This dynamic team will oversee the electoral process, ensuring fairness, transparency, and adherence to PSGH’s constitutional guidelines.

AGM Planning Committee Approved

In a related development, the Governing Board has also approved the AGM Planning Committee

A Historic First: Regional Chair as AGM Lead

For the first time in PSGH’s history, the Regional Chair of the host region is leading the AGM planning process. This significant shift aims to enhance local ownership, ensure stronger leadership, and leverage regional resources effectively. Additionally, a representative from the next host region (Greater Accra) has been included to understudy the planning process and facilitate a smooth transition for the next AGM.

The Society looks forward to a successful AGM and electoral process in Cape Coast as it continues to strengthen its leadership and impact in the pharmaceutical sector.
