The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)’s Health and Medicines Information Section (HaMIS) has named Marie Millicent Baffoe-Bonnie of Ghana as the recipient of its prestigious 2025 Travel Grant. Marie will attend the upcoming FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she will share her pioneering research on public health education through comics.

The HaMIS Travel Grant supports pharmacy professionals engaged in advancing health through innovative and accessible medicines information. The award is designed to promote global participation at the FIP Congress by supporting individuals whose work aligns with HaMIS’s core priorities—health literacy, public health education, policy advocacy, and innovation in information delivery.

About the Award-Winning Project

Marie’s winning research project uses comics as a creative tool to educate Junior High School students (Grades 7–9) about antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Conducted alongside Professor Kwame Ohene Buabeng and Dr. Obed Offe Amponsah at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the study aims to improve AMR awareness by making complex health information relatable and engaging to young learners.

Her work resonates with the growing global recognition of the need for effective, culturally appropriate communication tools to drive health behavior change, particularly among youth.
