This year’s FIP Congress, the 83rd World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is scheduled to take place at the Bella Center, Copenhagen, Denmark, from August 31st to September 3rd, 2025, under the theme: Pharmacy Forward: Performance, Collaboration, and Health Transformation.

The city of Copenhagen boasts of iconic attractions, lively food and beverage scenes, one of the world’s oldest monarchies, and a worth-experiencing thrilling nightlife. A city where bicycles outnumber vehicles, with bike-friendly streets.

There are three main sub-themes: Making it sustainable; Making the system work; and, Making it personal.  Making it sustainable aims at firming-up the existing foundations of global health, focusing on an all-inclusive healthcare delivery, efficient resource deployment, and the pharmacy profession’s role in pioneering global health solutions. Issues of antimicrobial resistance, enhancing access to essential medicines, efficient and resilient pharmacy workforce, and prioritising preventive healthcare, will be discussed.  The sub-theme will also consider regulatory systems’ impact on advancing global healthcare, and how the pharmaceutical industry can advance sustainable practices including greener production techniques and efficient waste management.

Making the system work will address the use of innovation and integration to enhance efficiency in healthcare and the pharmacists’ critical role in this enterprise.  Areas like patient safety, telepharmacy, and the use of AI in facilitating healthcare will be discussed.  Also, the pharmacist’s participation in the development of regulations and health policies to improve healthcare systems and ultimately to enhance public health and patient-centred care will be considered. Collaboration among healthcare practitioners is paramount and hence the sharing of vital electronic health data and the promotion of integrated healthcare systems to improve pharmacy services and vaccination programmes will be considered.

Making it personal will focus on pharmacy prioritising healthcare to meet individual needs. Customising treatment and personalised medicine, a game-changer in healthcare delivery, can be enhanced through improved pharmacist-patient engagement and patient education.  Positive health outcomes and improved adherence to medication regimens can thus be guaranteed, especially with a well-prepared pharmacist willing and able to contribute to enhancing future global health outcomes. This sub-theme will also emphasise the FIP’s commitment to ensuring that pharmacists remain dedicated to disease prevention and treatment efficacy.

At this congress, the FIP, through its partnership with Snapsight, will ensure that throughout the congress, participants will have live translations of key takeaways from every session communicated in over 70 languages. This AI-powered app is free and accessible to all participants.

Copenhagen! Here we come for performance, collaboration, transformation and entertainment.
