This supplement presents the abstracts selected for the scientific session of the 90th Anniversary Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), held in Accra in September 2026 under the theme "Science. Impact. Legacy. 90 Years of Pharmaceutical Excellence." The Scientific Review Committee selected 38 abstracts for oral and poster presentation. They report original work from teaching hospitals, district health services, community pharmacies, regulatory and public health programmes, and universities across Ghana.
The largest group addresses antimicrobial stewardship, including:
- antibiotic prescribing audits using the WHO AWaRe and WHO/INRUD indicators
- local antibiogram development
- stewardship programmes and training for clinicians and pharmacists
A second group assesses the quality of medicines on the Ghanaian market, chiefly by validated reverse-phase HPLC and pharmacopeial testing of cardiovascular, antidiabetic and antibiotic products.
Other contributions cover:
- medication safety and pharmacist-led interventions
- malaria commodity security and supply chain integrity
- expanded community pharmacy services, including STI testing, hypertension screening, vaccination and adherence support
- oncology outcomes and pharmacogenomics
- mental health
- regulatory confidentiality law
- the effects of illegal mining on the pharmaceutical sector
Together, the abstracts document the growing contribution of pharmacists to patient safety, medicine quality and health system strengthening in Ghana. They also identify priorities for policy, practice and further research. Abstracts are published as accepted by the Scientific Review Committee and have not undergone full peer review.
