The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) on the 8th of June 2022 engaged the Pharmacy Council on its plans to embark on a monitoring exercise to take data on the presence of pharmacists in pharmacies and other related matters.

The PSGH president, Pharmacist Samuel Kow Donkoh has maintained that “ensuring effective regulation” is one of the priority areas of the PSGH strategic plan deliverables for the year and beyond. The PSGH president was accompanied by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Pharm. Harry Amoaning Okyere and the CPPA Chairperson, Dr. Emmanuel Ireland.

The Pharmacy Council on their part was represented by the registrar – Dr. Rauf Audu, Dep. Registrar in charge of operations – Dr. Daniel Amaning Danquah, Greater Regional Chair – Mr. Michael Kudebong, Mr. Samuel Antwi Kwakwa and Mrs. Brenda Yayra Oppong

Both the Pharmacy Council and the PSGH acknowledge that a stronger working collaboration is needed between the two entities in order to achieve the enhanced levels of regulation desired by all.

The Pharmacy Council has made recommendations on the data collection instrument for the monitoring exercise which is being considered by the regulatory and employment committee of the PSGH and the CPPA.
