The chairperson of the Community Practice Pharmacists Association of Ghana (CPPA), Pharm. Dr. Emmanuel K. Ireland has stated that the primary objective of the maiden edition of the Community Pharmacy Week celebration (CPWC-2023) was to highlight the indispensable role of the community pharmacist as trusted healthcare professionals and as first port of call for primary healthcare in the country.

In his address, the convenor and host of the event said the celebration “kick-starts the awareness creation about the unique roles community pharmacists play and recognizing the contribution of community pharmacy practice especially during and after the COVID-19 pandemic”.

The CPPA chairperson further intimated that “the week-long community pharmacy week celebration, Madam Chair, will serve as a visual celebration of the critical role pharmacists play and it is a great way to help raise awareness about the vital role of pharmacists in our healthcare system”.

The chair then concluded his speech by showing his appreciation to his team of CPPA national executives, the CPPA advisory committee and all persons and parties that participated in the week celebration.
